ASSAB undertakes the task to update our customers in Singapore with the latest development in the tool steel industry in order to offer our customers the future tooling materials, today. Throughout the years we have seen the trend of a more sophisticated industry in Singapore and strived to understand the demands and requirements from the toolmakers and end users. As our customers already know, it is our tradition to always aim for the best, to take pride in good work and customer satisfaction.
The constant challenge our customers are facing is to answer the question “how can we improve our cost position?” Only by understanding the fundamentals of tool steel, engineers and tool designers can maximise their tool performance and thus increase productivity. ASSAB work closely with our customers through vigorous testing and evaluation process until the material, machining and heat treatment are finally qualified.
New ideas often surface during in-plant seminar with our customers. For example: a customer has been using AISI 420 at 47 HRC for many years and after the seminar, the customer began to evaluate Mirrax 40 (pre-hardened at 40 HRC) for their future production. At the end the customer ended up saving heat treatment and machining time as well as costs.
Our service portfolio includes customized heat treatment process to ensure our customer gets the best tooling performance. ASSAB also stock the appropriate sizes for our customer or for their respective tool maker to ensure the most optimum material cost. We also safeguard traceability and record documentation in order to ensure the entire qualification process is well documented.
